To develop an office highrise on a prescribed depth of not more than 14 meters – when quite adjacent to it on the Potsdamer Platz the blocks stretching 60 meters in square: – quite frustrating a job for both client and architect, especially when you get squeezed between the hard place and the rock of Berlin building regulations.
Two stairs, wrapped one into the other, two elevators, rest- and waiting rooms, a pantry – all that in a core together with seven lawyers, eight secretaries, a conference – all that in a spacious concept of a typical floor: – we needed the help of a cylindrical-shaped corridor to press for a little lifelines, a trace of generosity.
